Acquiring Data for A Digital Twin of One Of The World’s Busiest Airports

GEO1, a RIEGL USA customer, is a solutions team that provides survey and mapping, analytics, and data delivery. The team is accustomed to working with challenging logistics and explore extreme locations. One of the exciting projects that they have worked on was being contracted by the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) in order to acquire high resolution LiDAR and image data for the purposes of building a Digital Twin. Some of the challenges that the team faced were 1-hour intervals each day for flying, flight planning with commercial aircraft landing and departing every 1-2 minutes, weather issues, and coordinating schedules with other airborne acquisition platforms. www.riegl.com
