MDA Announces New Global Land Cover Product

MDA Information Systems LLC has announced the launch of BaseVue 2013 a global land use/land cover (LULC) product. BaseVue 2013 is a commercially available, global, 13-class LULC product developed by MDA. The product covers Earthâs entire land area, excluding Antarctica, and is comprised of approximately 19,250 1x1 degree tiles. BaseVue is independently derived from roughly 9,200 Landsat 8 30m resolution images. MDA extracted 13 land cover classes from these 9,200 Landsat scene in an automated process. For CONUS, MDA has produced a recoded version of the most recently available National Land Cover Database product created by the US Geological Survey. BaseVue in conjunction with other datasets serves a variety of uses such as: Cartographic basemap, Urban and population studies, LULC to support field operations and infrastructure planning for energy and communications sectors and assessing likely concentrations of insect-borne illnesses www.mdacorporation.com
