Foula: the “missing place” in Great Britain

By [email protected] - 21st August 2017 - 14:54

Following detailed analysis of Ordnance Survey’s (OS) Custom Made map data it was revealed that the Scottish island of Foula is the only place in Great Britain the public has not yet featured on an OS Custom Made map. OS launched its Custom Made map service to allow its customers to generate their own personalised OS Explorer or OS Landranger flat or folded maps. Yet no one had done this for Foula. Closer to Norway than either Edinburgh or London, Foula is described on various travel websites as ‘one of Britain’s most remote inhabited islands. With the exception of Foula all have been covered at some point in OS’s Custom Made maps. www.os.uk
