U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Adds Global Mapper to its List of Approved Software

Hallowell, Maine - July 13, 2017 - Blue Marble Geographics is pleased to announce that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has added Global Mapper and the accompanying LiDAR Module to its list of approved software tools, making the application accessible to all of USACE civilian and military staff. Global Mapper will now be readily available to assist in the USACE's critical operations both in the U.S. and abroad.

Blue Marble's GIS software is used by hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers throughout the world who need affordable, user-friendly, yet powerful GIS solutions. Users come from a wide range of industries including software, oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as government departments and academic institutions.

For almost twenty years, Global Mapper has established a well-earned reputation as a low-cost but fully-functional alternative to traditional GIS applications. Over the years, the software's evolution has followed an aggressive and ambitious development path with each successive version introducing a broad array of new features and functions. The USACE's decision to approve Global Mapper for use by all 37,000 of its staff is a direct consequence of the software's proven mission-ready capabilities. The accreditation of Global Mapper is intended to remove any hurdles that would obstruct the efficient deployment of the software in the unit's day-to-day or emergency response operations.

Global Mapper is ideally suited for the engineering challenges faced by the USACE, offering a perfect mix of interoperability, ease of use, and powerful terrain and 3D analysis capability. Specific components of the software that USACE personnel are particularly interested in include its extensive file format conversion tools, CADRG format support, terrain model creation, LiDAR post-processing, raster analysis, flood modeling, line-of-sight analysis, and map publication.

"We are honored and proud that Global Mapper is playing a critical role in the important work of the Army Corps of Engineers," stated Senior Account Manager, Christian Ruenzi. "The unit's eagerness in approving and accrediting the software is a testament to the benefits that Global Mapper brings to the broad field of engineering and emergency response."
