By [email protected] - 21st April 2016 - 10:02

Opti-cal Survey Equipment, the industry-leading supplier of top-quality land survey and precision measurement technologies, heavily invests in new hire equipment.

Opti-cal Survey Equipment has further expanded their state-of-the-art hire fleet with a recent procurement of Leica Geosystems’ instruments worth £2.5 million; the hire fleet is now in excess of £10 million. This crucial move is the next step in the overall business strategy to facilitate a larger than ever nationwide hire fleet with equipment less than 3 years old.

Opti-cal’s recent investment comprises of Leica Total Stations, Rugby Lasers and Pipe Lasers, all of which are available for same or next day delivery. This increases the ongoing support to professionals across a wide range of industries spanning Engineering, Construction, Archaeology and Forensics.

  • 100 x Leica TS06 Reflectorless Total Stations
  • 100 x Leica TS16 Full Robotic Total Stations
  • 400 x Leica Rugby 810 Rotating Lasers
  • 30 x Leica Piper 100 Pipe Lasers

The long-standing fully-accredited service and distribution partnership between Opti-cal and Leica Geosystems, which spans over a decade, means that world-class instrumentation are matched with the highest levels of service and unrivalled technical expertise. This stretches across both the purchasing and hiring of survey equipment.

“Negotiations started in December 2015 for Opti-cal to make a further investment in Leica equipment. This order would facilitate an increase in the size of the Opti-cal fleet and replenishment of some of the older equipment which has led to significant sales stock for all the regional offices.” Phil Smyth - UK Sales Manager at Leica Geosystems.

Obtaining the new instruments keeps the hire fleet up-to-date with current popular survey equipment. Opti-cal now has ex hire fleet equipment available for purchase, all of which has been maintained to the highest of standards by highly-skilled service technicians in Opti-cal’s own regional fully Leica certified workshops.

“This investment is very important for Opti-cal, not only does it add state-of-the-art Leica instrumentation to our hire fleet, it also enables us to enhance our service offering. Six branches strategically located in the UK allow us to offer local service, not only to our regional clients but to our national customers as well. We are very close to doubling the size of our logistics team, allowing us to personally deliver and just as importantly collect equipment from sites. When we analysed what was required to improve the service we offer, we realised that having fully-checked equipment ready-to-go at each depot, as well as moving away from using 3rd party delivery and collection services accounted for nearly 90% of all issues. Working quickly and investing wisely has rectified this. We have added 100 Leica TS16 Robotic Systems and 100 Leica TS06 reflectorless Total Stations, taking the number of instruments to well over 1000 on our hire fleet. We make sure that these are all supported correctly and any training or advice is ready to be given. “Jim Warner - Director at Opti-cal.

With significant growth in the industry over the last twelve months and 2016 set to be another year for huge opportunities across the sector, Opti-cal has embraced this by expanding not only their ever growing hire fleet, but also increasing their nationwide coverage by opening a sixth office in Livingston, Scotland. Investing heavily ensures that the requirements of Opti-cal’s growing customer base, is not only meet but exceeded.
