SenSat expands into US market

By Peter Fitzgibbon - 27th September 2018 - 10:38

Having caught the eye of tech investors, London-based Sensat has raised £3 million to take Mapp, its drone and AI-based 3D mapping solution to the United States with the opening of an office in San Francisco

Established in 2013 with £300,000 of seed funding and now employing 30 people at its headquarters in Shoreditch, Sensat has developed its Mapp platform to transform large Structure from Motion (SfM) datasets (that represent the physical world as binary numbers) into bite-sized, computer-readable chunks.

According to the company, Mapp now supports over £3.5bn in infrastructure builds and helps over 30 tier 1 contractors, clients and consultants automate and digitise previously manual and physical decision making. In addition, and according to a report in the “City A.M.” newspaper, SenSat is working alongside the UK Government to test the safe use of drones in UK skies.
