London, United Kingdom – February 27, 2017 - A bold plan to live-stream a solar eclipse from a remote part of Chile paid off over the weekend, with hundreds of thousands of people from around the world tuning in to enjoy the spectacle.

Liberty Global, the world’s largest international TV and internet company, live-streamed the Southern “Ring of Fire” Solar Eclipse over a specially-installed fibre connection in partnership with its Chilean subsidiary, VTR. The broadcast was live from Coyhaique in Chile, one of the three best places in the world from which to see it – in both 360° and in 2d from a telescope.

Liberty Global said the event’s success highlighted how stable, fast broadband is bringing the wonders of the world to an ever-greater audience, and the leading broadband company has now released a special video edit of the event, giving viewers another chance to experience the rare moment.
