Dublin – June 14, 2016 - At IFSEC International 2016 stand B350 – 21-23 June, Excel, London: Globalstar Europe Satellite Services Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Globalstar Inc. (NYSE MKT: GSAT), will showcase the recently-announced EMN system as well as other satellite solutions that support the security community by enhancing the safety of people and assets.

An unprecedented technological breakthrough developed by Globalstar, Isle of Man based Manx Telecom and technical partner Intelcomm, EMN is set to deliver a transparent integration between terrestrial mobile networks and Globalstar’s satellite network. Thanks to the adoption of soft-switch technology by Globalstar and Manx Telecom, EMN aims to be the world’s first communications service to switch between multiple mobile networks and a DtU (Direct-to-User) mobile satellite network.

With EMN, whenever the signal level starts to fail on one mobile network, the user’s call or transmission will be automatically handed over to another mobile network that's in range. If no mobile network is in range, the call will be switched to the Globalstar satellite system. As a result, calls and transmissions will successfully reach their intended recipients, wherever they are. Security personnel, first responders and remote workers will be able to access EMN using their own Wi-Fi enabled devices and existing phone numbers.

The first service to use EMN technology will be FRAN (First Responder Auxiliary Network). FRAN will enable users to continue making and receiving calls, without interruption, even if one or all mobile networks become unavailable. FRAN will revolutionise the ability of emergency services, counterterror personnel and other members of the security industry to communicate with greater safety and efficiency.

Visitors to IFSEC international 2016 can also learn more about the satellite voice and data solutions that Globalstar provides to government, commercial, and individual customers around the world. These products are enabled by Globalstar’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation, the only complete next generation satellite system in operation today. Globalstar products are designed to track valuable assets and improve the communications capabilities and safety of security personnel, remote crews and lone workers.

The Globalstar product portfolio includes satellite telephones, simplex and duplex satellite data modems, flexible airtime packages and the SPOT family of satellite trackers now credited with over 4,300 rescues globally.

Solutions from Globalstar value added manufacturers, such as Ovinto Sat and Improvement IT’s Alltrack, incorporate Globalstar simplex solutions to precisely locate assets, while geo-fencing ensures that items are in the right place. Recently, petrochemical manufacturer SABIC equipped its entire European fleet of 500 rail tank cars with Ovinto Sat M2M, based on Globalstar’s STX3 chipset, to enhance the safety of chemical transportation and optimise its supply chain operations.

Another example of how Globalstar technology is used to enhance security is Northumbrian Water Group (WWG), which recently deployed Globalstar SPOT Gen3 devices to enhance the safety of 1,500 employees who carry out checks on reservoirs in remote areas where GSM signals can be unreliable or non-existent.

Northumbrian Water - Health, Safety and Environment Consultant Team Leader Diane Somerville commented: “Ensuring the safety and well-being of our staff is an extremely high priority for Northumbrian Water Group and it helps us attract and retain skilled employees. Feedback from staff on the new solution and SPOT has already been overwhelmingly positive. Our employees are telling us that the system is easy to use and we are delighted that we are delivering on our ongoing commitment to constantly ensure that our people are safe while at work while they provide vital services to our customers.”
