Geosoft announces technology partnership with Corescan

Geosoft is pleased to announce a technology partnership with Corescan to integrate Corescan’s web based virtual core library, Coreshed, with Geosoft’s geological software Target and Target for ArcGIS.

“We are excited to partner with Corescan to streamline the integration and visualization of core imagery for more accurate and insightful geological modelling” said Tim Dobush, CEO of Geosoft. “Working together, we can help our customers increase confidence in the data used for decision-making, and ultimately improve the quality of their exploration outcomes.”

“Our collaboration with Geosoft is fundamental to our vision of bringing your coreshed to your desktop” says Neil Goodey, Managing Director of Corescan. “The integration of our two products increases the utility, objectivity and effectiveness of your core, delivering greater returns from your investment in drilling.”

Instant access to core photos

As an outcome of the partnership, new connectivity available in Geosoft’s 9.1 software update allows geoscientists to spatially link directly from plan maps, section maps and drill hole databases, to core imagery and other data products stored in Coreshed.
Coreshed is a secure portal for company-wide access to electronic core photographs and other images such as hyperspectral imagery, mineral maps and assay logs. The centralized facility allows high speed retrieval and visualization anywhere in the world at either the drill hole or core box scale.

All Geosoft customers with an existing Coreshed account can use the new core photo viewing option in Target and Target for ArcGIS.

“Having instant access to core imagery can assist in building a more accurate geological model by resolving questions about the data, and providing additional insights during the interpretation process,” said Dobush. “This can give geologists more confidence in their data and also in the decisions they are making from that data.”

Geosoft will be demonstrating the Coreshed integration as part of its new technology showcase at the 2017 Mineral Exploration Roundup conference held January 23-26 in Vancouver, Canada.

Since 1986 Geosoft has helped to advance exploration of the Earth's subsurface. The company provides geoscience software and data services for government, energy and mineral exploration, marine, unexploded ordnance, and the earth sciences.
