Cambridge Conference 2017 - Mapping Nations: The Next Decade

By [email protected] - 7th April 2017 - 14:05

During the first week of July, leaders of national mapping and cadastral authorities from across the globe will be in the UK to discuss some of the greatest challenges the world faces.

The Cambridge Conference will be held between 2-6 July 2017, with the theme ‘Mapping Nations: The Next Decade’. The conference will examine some of the biggest global challenges which we face - economic, social and technical. It will consider how national mapping and geospatial agencies should adapt to face these challenges, and how the industry will make a profound contribution to communities all over the world.

Nigel Clifford, Ordnance Survey CEO and Conference Chair, said: “This will be my first Cambridge Conference and I very much look forward to the event. I am sure the conference will be a valuable and thought provoking opportunity for national leaders of geospatial agencies to consider how mapping, geospatial and cadastral organisations will approach the next decade. The mix of expert speakers and collective experience will help us find new approaches to common challenges such as efficiency savings, the pace of technological change and customers’ increasing demands for instant, detailed and accurate information.”

The 2017 Cambridge Conference will have three distinct themes, one for each day, to allow delegates to discuss and share best practice from their nations. The first day looks at how the global environment is changing, the second day at the changing geospatial landscape and the third day we consider how we can adapt to give our nations the mapping and services they need. The conference also includes a visit to Ordnance Survey’s Head Office in Southampton for delegates to learn more about OS and its future business strategy.

Every four years since 1928, the Cambridge Conference has hosted the senior leaders of national mapping and geospatial agencies from around the world. This year’s event will be held at Keble College, Oxford University, in the centre of the city.
