7th Global Geothermal Energy Summit

By Eric Van Rees - 19th January 2020 - 09:52

25th & 26th March 2020, Florence, Italy

Following the success from last year’s summit in Amsterdam, ACI is very excited to take the 7th edition of our Global Geothermal Energy Summit to the birth place of Geo thermal energy production – Tuscany, Italy.

With Geo thermal energy production being one of the lowest forms of CO2 producing energy sources, its development & worldwide deployment is vital in the reduction in worldwide targets for CO2 reduction.

The two day event will provide key insights into the opportunities, challenges, global trends and policies, through expert led case study presentations, interactive sessions and round table discussions giving practical examples of planning, financing & technological strategies shaping the future of Geo thermal energy production whilst networking with industry peers from across the geothermal power value chain.

Last edition of the conference was held in Amsterdam.

Site Visit – Enel Green Power

During the afternoon of 24th March 2020, a limited number of conference delegates will receive a unique opportunity to visit: Enel Green Power’s world’s first biomass plant used to heat geothermal steam at the Cornia 2 geothermal power plant, which is located in Castelnuovo Val di Cecina in Tuscany.

Italy as a whole, & the Tuscany Region in particular, present abundant energy resources due to the particular geological and geothermal conditions of the territory. The new facility was built next to the existing 13-MW Cornia 2 geothermal power plant & is expected to increase the latter’s output by more than 30 GWh annually. The newly-installed power station uses virgin forest biomass to heat steam from an initial temperature of 150-160 degrees Celsius to 370-380 degrees Celsius. This boosts net electricity production capacity because of the increased enthalpy of the steam & the improved efficiency of the cycle.

There is no extra charge to join the site visit, although places are limited and allocated on first come first served basis. Secure your place today to avoid disappointment…
