BIM platform and GIS integrator makes two new appointments

3D Repo, the company behind cloud software solutions for collaborative Building Information Modelling (BIM), has appointed Carmen Fan to the position of Chief Technology Officer.

Prior to her promotion, Fan held a leading technical position at 3D Repo and was also one of the founding members of the London based technology company. She was instrumental in the company’s success in the third wave of Canary Wharf Group’s Cognicity Challenge, which saw 3D Repo awarded winning place in the ‘Virtual Design and Construction’ stream for its open source BIM platform.

In a parallel move, the company has also appointed Dr Charence Wong to the position of Lead Research Developer. Previously a Research Associate at Imperial College London, Dr Wong is a well-respected expert in the area of the Internet of Things, having worked on numerous embedded and connected medical devices. Dr Wong is also an expert in cyber security, having published a number of peer reviewed and highly regarded scientific papers on the topic.

“We have now been operating for three years, and we are well on our transition from start up to scale up with support from investors and R&D funding,” commented Dr Jozef Dobos, CEO of 3D Repo. “The promotion of Carmen and the appointment of Charence represent the next stage of our development, where we translate the projects we have been working on – in partnership with some of the leading names in construction and infrastructure – into mass deployment solutions.”

Following the award of her Master of Engineering in Computing from Imperial College London, Fan worked in the High Performance Computing sector, specialising in code analysis and performance optimisation for complex algorithms within the fields of High Frequency Trading, Risk Analysis and Scientific Computing. Fan has held positions with performance computing specialist Maxeler Technologies and Symantec, and has experience in the financial sector, having previously worked at Morgan Stanley.

“This is an exciting time to be taking the technology helm at 3D Repo,” added Carmen Fan. “As a team, we have completed the ground work and we are now in a perfect position to realise on the investments and achievements to date.”
