Secureseal allows Google Earth asset tracking

By [email protected] - 9th March 2007 - 14:34

Secureseal has launched SecureTrac, a breakthrough technology development for tracking assets worldwide via the web. Assets are located using Google Earth with current positions shown on a satellite image, aerial photograph or map. By combining the latest radio frequency identification (RFID) and satellite technologies, Secureseal has created a wireless tracking device that requires no power source; SecureTrac uses a long-life 8 year battery and is suitable for any type of mobile asset.
SecureTrac enables significant improvements to be made in asset management and logistics by automatically locating trailers, swap bodies, containers, rail wagons and other assets. With expected return on investment of 10 to 1, SecureTrac allows operational costs to be slashed by eliminating manual asset location, optimising fleet utilisation and streamlining servicing. To provide ubiquitous coverage around the globe, Secureseal has developed the system using Globalstar, the worldâs most widely used satellite communication network. Incorporating Axonn AXTracker devices, SecureTrac is assured of consistent and global coverage through Globalstarâs low orbit satellite network. The breakthrough development has been achieved by combining Axonnâs Globalstar communication technology and GPS with Securesealâs ultra low-power RF technology. This has allowed full operation by battery alone as part of a totally wireless solution that can be fitted in minutes and able to operate for years unattended. âWith Globalstar we found the ideal solution for achieving reliable global coverage but the real challenge was to create a device that could be free of a power source. With our experience in non-powered trailer tracking we realised we had already had the answer and SecureTrac is the result of successful integration of the two technologiesâ says Ben Grant, Managing Director of Secureseal. With global coverage and freedom from maintenance or power, SecureTrac is also suitable for the management of remote fixed assets. This allows assets to be tracked during shipment and then identified onsite for years afterwards.
