By [email protected] - 17th October 2006 - 15:07

The world's largest congress and trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management filled 30,000 square metres of floor space at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre with some 550 exhibitors from Germany and other countries around the globe.
Of the 19,000 visitors, almost one in four came from abroad. 15 percent of international guests came from overseas. The joint INTERGEO and FIG congress has exceeded all expectations. By the end of the event, approximately 2,750 participants from 100 nations had registered at the ICM. The high-quality portfolio of presentations perfectly quenched the international community's thirst for information. Exhibitors at the event were pleased with how the trade fair went, and have evaluated it as good to excellent. Leading companies such as ESRI and Bentley have confirmed the exceptionally high profile of the event's visitors, 20 percent of whom work in top-flight management positions. As the Bavarian Minister-President Edmund Stoiber stressed in his speech on Tuesday, the industry was already looking at the bigger, global picture, even before terms such as globalisation and internationalisation made it into everyday language. In the coming year, the German Association of Surveying (DVW) - German Society for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management will be hosting the 13th INTERGEO from September 25 to 27, 2007 at Leipzig Trade Fair. The 55th German Cartographer's Day will also be taking place at the same time.Statements on INTERGEO 2006Hagen Graeff, President of INTERGEO organiser, the German Association of Surveying (DVW) - German Society for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management: We had high expectations for this unique industry event - the INTERGEO Conference and Trade Fair and the XXIII FIG Congress - but the past few days have seen these expectations exceeded. The international geo community joined us in Munich. And our aim is to repeat the huge increase in international participation and the event's global importance at INTERGEO 2007 in Leipzig.Jürgen Kliem, General Manager Survey Division, Trimble Navigation Limited: The growing internationalisation of INTERGEO is very important for Trimble. This event, the world's most important marketplace and industry meeting point for geodesy, geoinformation and land management, provides us with a forum for meeting our European customers.INTERGEO 2006 has gone very well for our company. Our special presentation, Google Earth Integration by Bentley, engendered incredibly positive feedback and a huge amount of interest. This enabled us to reach several interested potential customers and establish new business contacts for our company. We had more than 2,300 visitors to our stand on the first two days of the event. Moreover, the visitor profile at INTERGEO is exceptional, with a large number of decision-makers attending. Bentley reached its target audience at Munich one hundred percent, comments Gijsbert Noordam, Senior Consultant Geospatial Center of Excellence, Bentley International. The fair is an important platform. I can only call on organisations worldwide to participate in INTERGEO, since this exhibition is the prime marketplace for the very latest happenings and developments in the field of geoinformation. INTERGEO will continue to play a key role for ESRI in future, stated Jack Dangermond, Founder and President of ESRI Inc., Redlands, on his first visit to INTERGEO.
