VertiGIS Integrator Streamlines Waste Management for IVAGO in Ghent

GIS-SAP synchronisation enhances operations and minimises data duplication.

VertiGIS, a global provider of spatial asset management solutions, has deployed VertiGIS Integrator to integrate GIS data into SAP’s ERP systems for the Intermunicipal Association for Waste Management (IVAGO) in Ghent, Belgium.

VertiGIS Integrator automates workflows for IVAGO by synchronising data between Esri’s ArcGIS Pro and SAP. This enhances operational efficiency for its Routing Management Department, enabling it to make better-informed decisions and optimise waste collection and route management across its fleet of 190 collection vehicles and road sweepers.

With more than 400 employees and six recycling centres, IVAGO provides selective household waste collection for almost 300,000 residents. It also manages nearly 2,400 public waste bins across Ghent and the Destelbergen municipality.

IVAGO’s Routing Management Department utilises GIS data to map its exact area of operation and manage existing public waste bins. When adding new public waste bins, once the exact location is captured in ArcGIS Pro, all data – including a unique ID – will automatically populate within SAP.

Here, additional data can be included, with the new location assigned to existing emptying and cleaning schedules. Should any adjustments be made in either system, such as large-scale changes to collection routes, VertiGIS Integrator ensures these are recorded across both ArcGIS Pro and SAP after data synchronisation.
