Unifly is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration to offer LAANC service

LAANC is the Low-Altitude Authorization & Notification Capability. This service automates the application and approval process for UAS pilots wishing to get access to controlled airspace near airports under Part 107, through near real-time processing of airspace authorizations below approved altitudes in controlled airspace. If approved, pilots now receive their authorization in near-real time, compared to periods up to 60 or even 90 days for the manual process. Since September 2018, LAANC is available at nearly 300 air traffic facilities covering approximately 500 airports in the United States. The complete list of facilities taking part in LAANC is available here.

“We are thrilled to work with the FAA and, together, to shape the future of UTM!”, says Laurent Huenaerts, General Manager of Unifly Inc. “LAANC is just the first UTM service to be operational at large scale in the United States. We look forward to leveraging Unifly’s global experience of deploying UTM solutions at national scale in order to support the FAA in building additional UTM capabilities on top of LAANC, that will foster the UAS industry and benefit all stakeholders: commercial and recreational UAS pilots, the FAA, airports, as well as public services, States, and local authorities.”

Unifly’s LAANC certification is the latest of a series of recent announcements by the company with regard to the scale up phase of its operations in the United States: Unifly’s participation to the UAS Integration Pilot Program as the UTM provider in the IPP team led by the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, Unifly’s partnership with the NUAIR Alliance and Griffiss International Airport to deploy its UTM platform to monitor the 50-mile UTM Corridor established in New York State as well as to enable Unmanned Traffic Management Testing activities, and the agreement signed between the company and Central New York to actively support highly-qualified jobs creation and economic development in the region by establishing Unifly’s North American Headquarters in Syracuse, NY.
