The Institute of Navigation Announces that the IEEE/ION PLANS 2023 is Being Hosted In-Person April 24-28, 2023, Monterey, CA

The Institute of Navigation (ION) has announced that the IEEE/Institute of Navigation (ION) Positioning, Location, and Navigation Symposium (PLANS) 2023 conference will take place in-person, April 24–28, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency Monterey in Monterey, California.

The biennial PLANS conference, co-sponsored by the IEEE AESS and the ION, features researchers and engineers from around the world who will present their latest work in the field of positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT). The presentations range from fundamental research to applications to field test results, with a particular emphasis on inertial navigation. Technical sessions cover a range of subjects for both beginners and seasoned professionals.

IEEE/ION PLANS 2023 technical program is centered around four technical tracks of peer reviewed papers on: inertial sensing and technology; global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs); integrated, collaborative, and opportunistic navigation; and applications to automated, semi-autonomous, and fully- autonomous systems. A day of pre-conference tutorials will be hosted prior to the start of the technical presentations that cover an introduction to inertial navigation systems (INS); image aided inertial navigation; magnetic aided inertial navigation; signals of opportunity; and factor graphs for non-linear estimation problems. Tutorials are taught by academic and industry experts. In parallel, the Air Force Institute of Technology will be co-hosting a magnetic navigation workshop. Technical program, tutorial, and workshop details can be found here.

Additionally, IEEE/ION PLANS 2023 will include a commercial exhibit featuring the latest position, location, and navigation technologies and solutions. For information on exhibiting or a list of exhibitors, please go to ion.org/plans/exhibits.

Registration to attend the event is open here and will be held in person only. No virtual options are being made available.
