âUsing technology to create smarter buildings could help prompt construction sector growth ~ Comments attributed from John Eynon, Engagement Lead at the UK BIM Alliance,

“With Brexit and financial pressures hitting Britain’s construction sector hard, the need to design and construct buildings that are smarter and compliant with new regulations is a pressing issue. Construction companies are becoming hesitant before committing to major long term projects, but maybe if new technologies such as data, BIM and IoT are used more effectively, then companies will have all the information they need to make a more data informed businesses decision.

“Those working at the front end of the design/build/operate cycle say that clients, owners and facilities managers are either not aware of BIM and these new technologies or simply don’t recognize the tangible benefits – and don’t even look at the building model. Now that the government wants to make BIM Level 2 ‘business as usual’ by 2020 across the private, as well as the public sector, businesses need to begin looking at these technologies to provide opportunities and not too view them as a hindrance.”
