Open Cosmos Takes Earth Observation Into Near-Real Time With OpenConstellation 1.0

By Eric Van Rees - 1st July 2026 - 07:21

New constellation transforms how governments and enterprises access satellite insights.

Open Cosmos, the space company building satellites to understand and connect the world, unveils OpenConstellation 1.0 – a next generation of Earth observation satellites capable of delivering actionable intelligence in as little as 30 minutes.

Designed to transform how governments and enterprises respond to fast-moving events, OpenConstellation 1.0 dramatically reduces the delay between requesting satellite imagery and receiving critical insights. While traditional Earth observation systems can take up to 48 hours to deliver data, OpenConstellation 1.0 will provide high quality imagery in under four hours, enabling near real-time monitoring of disasters, security threats, infrastructure incidents and environmental change.

Building on Open Cosmos’ proven Earth observation capabilities, the constellation combines faster tasking, collection and direct in-orbit data relay to remove delays that have historically limited the operational value of satellite imagery.
