Luciad Announces Partnership with Cognitive Social Media Analytics Firm Sc2 Corp

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Luciad, a leading provider of geospatial technology that delivers real-time situational awareness, has today announced a partnership with enterprise social media and cognitive analytics firm Sc2 Corp. Luciad has worked with Sc2 Corp and IBM to produce a Human Terrain Analysis System (HTAS) that monitors social media feeds for signs of potential conflict.

HTAS is an innovative turn-key solution capable of harvesting, analyzing and reporting on global trends in over 40 languages in real-time with minimal user training. Based on Luciad’s browser and desktop geospatial API’s LuciadRIA and LuciadLightspeed, and IBM’s Pure Application Systems, HTAS enables the user to accurately analyse sentiment in language and emoji, identify the influencers of mass communication and trace the development of trends across the globe.

Large quantities of data can be continuously mined according to user-defined topics, locally stored, automatically enriched and fed into Sc2’s high performance geospatial applications without the need for large teams of analysts.

Originally developed for the US Special Operations Command, HTAS can deliver actionable insights for any organisation, in any sector, seeking to navigate and impact on social media on their own terms without the need to depend on specialist data scientists or cloud storage.

“We are extremely excited about our partnership with Sc2,” said Luciad CEO, Marc Melviez. “ Together we have created an application capable of analyzing masses of rapidly changing data to create a coherent picture for intelligence or business analysts.”
