Hexagon’s Asset Lifecycle Intelligence division has announced the immediate availability of HxGN EAM Python Framework, a new module that features functionality across the entire asset lifecycle for full-scale Python scripting.
Python is the world’s fastest-growing programming language and considered the standard programming language for creating machine learning and data science models and applications.
Python’s versatility as a scripting language for automating Enterprise Application tasks is unparalleled. It is also the standard for data analysis, data visualization, artificial intelligence and machine learning. HxGN EAM now makes this powerful capability available to clients via a fully integrated Python Framework.
The framework has two major components:
· Python Studio, powered by JupyterLab – a fully integrated scripting environment leveraging the extensive abilities of JupyterLab, the industry standard for writing Python scripts. These are full Python 3 scripts, with access to Python's extensive flexibility and libraries, access to the rich set of APIs provided by HxGN EAM, both Representational State Transfer (REST) and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), and access to public APIs.
· Flex Python infrastructure – a robust Kubernetes-based infrastructure that executes the Python scripts with minimal performance impact to HxGN EAM.

This fully integrated feature is built specifically for HxGN EAM, making it a unique offering. Reducing the barrier of entry for Python language within the HxGN EAM ecosystem allows EAM users at all levels of Python programming experience to meet any use case desired in their respective maintenance organization. Python Studio is incredibly powerful for ad hoc analysis and authoring, but its automation strengths come from having the code executable without human intervention. Python Studio’s functionality allows users to convert visually rich notebooks into standalone executable Flex Python scripts with a single click.
Within HxGN EAM, the Flex Python executable script can be programmed to run on a schedule or triggered by an event with access to review/monitor the history and logs. This integrated creation and executable environment removes the burden of organizations to maintain an outside application to handle these mission-critical events. It can now all be administered within HxGN EAM.
Using Python as a scripting language to expand HxGN EAM enables EAM users to write scripts quickly, leverage existing libraries and frameworks, and integrate with other technologies, resulting in more efficient and effective enterprise asset management solutions.
