Esri's Marcella Cavallaro to Lead DATA Act Discussion Panel at DATA Act Summit

Redlands, California—May 25, 2016—Esri national government manager for emerging markets Marcella Cavallaro will lead a one-hour panel discussion on DATA Act legislation at the DATA Act Summit on Thursday, May 26. The discussion will focus on the recent release of the Government Accountability Office report on the DATA Act and the approaching deadline of May 2017 for agencies to comply with the mandate.

Cavallaro will be joined by acting US Postal Service (USPS) inspector general Tammy Whitcomb; Department of Justice inspector general Michael Horowitz; Department of Housing and Urban Development inspector general David A. Montoya; and Jim Lisle, DATA Act working group chair from the Department of Treasury.

"Incorporating location into analytic workflows allows you to not only see where places are physically located but also understand how they relate to each other and interact," said Cavallaro. "Esri's spatial analysis tools detect patterns with more certainty, which helps to combat fraud, reduce waste, and improve oversight."

Esri works with a number of inspector general organizations, as well as many congressional offices, to help them use spatial data and analysis tools for accountability, transparency, and antifraud workflows to promote open government and transparency.
