The council plans to use Alloy to help manage the reactive maintenance of its highway networks and street lighting assets, enabling them to inspect and fix potholes and street lights more efficiently.
Using Alloy will allow users to configure and design their own asset types, clearly visualise data generated by the highways and street lighting assets, as well as updating systems and ensuring data and information gets to the right people in real-time to help deliver streamlined maintenance programmes.
Currently, the main focus of the set-up and configuration effort is to get Alloy up and running to drive efficiencies for the council’s back office teams. Over time, the council also plans to integrate Alloy with a new CRM system it is implementing.
This will enable data inputs from the service desk and telephony teams, together with additional details from the website to be captured in Alloy, as well as allowing data from Alloy to be fed into the CRM and used to shape engagement with the public and other key stakeholders.
Peter Stokes, Head of Streetscene Maintenance, added: “We expect the new system will create cost and time efficiencies from the start but also futureproof us during a period when authorities are needing to digitise their processes and evaluate current systems whilst keeping ever shrinking budgets in mind.”
Currently, the implementation of the system is well under way and Yotta is looking to have everything operationally running for the council by the end of H1 2019.
Once Alloy is live, the council also plans to implement Alloy Mobile which will allow inspectors and field workers out on site to be fed all the latest information direct to their mobile phones from the Alloy back office system. This will enable the most important tasks to be prioritised and updates to be delivered as soon as work is completed, driving enhanced operational efficiencies and greater productivity as a direct result.
