Smart Utility Summit

By [email protected] - 17th February 2009 - 16:50

Report prepared in collaboration with the organiser (IQPC), the presenters and the solution providers. Last December representatives of almost all British gas, water and electricity utilities and even some continental utilities, joined together in the historical building of the worldâs oldest aeronautic society between Hyde Park and Saint James in London.
Of the one hundred attendees two thirds were from Utilities with job titles ranging from Head of Asset management to Head of GIS, Operations Director, Head of Smart Metering and Strategic Director. The remainder were a combination of industry advisors, consultants and invited specialist solution providers including Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent, Cordys, Rolta, Navteq, Intergraph and Bentley Systems. GeoConnexion asked the latter to explain their input within the theme of the conference and the interviews are collated in this report. The objective of this 3-day conference was to present the state-of-the-art and to discuss the future of utilities as private companies in a liberated energy market. This refers principally to Asset Management, GIS, Enterprise Mobility, Workflow, Smart Metering and Customer information technologies. To Download the full interview see EDITOR\'S CHOICE BELOW
