Impressive beginning for Articque campaign

By [email protected] - 6th September 2006 - 14:37

Only a few days after the introduction of the GeoCampus Program, five Ministers of Education and Research have decided to get all their academic institutions equipped with C&D for the school year 2006-2007.
The first reactions are enthusiastic as shown by the response of the Cypriot Minister of Education and Culture, Peukios Georgiades: âEducators, Statisticians, Historians, Anthropologists, map Curators, Librarians and other professionals will find the specific software an interesting tool in their day to day activities.I reassure you personally that the material will be distributed in all the Educational and Research establishments in Cyprusâ.The Director of Educational Innovation at the Guatemalan Ministry of Education, Jorge Arturo Rivera, also commented this action: â(â¦) I must say that I am very excited about this opportunity, because on January 2007 we will be deploying approximately 300 computer labs in all of the public middle schools, nationwide.I must also confess that I am personally a geography fan, so I see this is a good chance of getting students involved in a field that links technology, geography and statistics.ââ¦The GeoCampus program is an action Articque has been able to implement thanks to the Internet and its last excellent results that made the SME rank among the first five editors of statistical mapping software in France. At an international level, Articque remained anecdotic and had to compete with global leaders such as Microsoft, MapInfo, ESRI.In order to reach a strategic position on this global market, the European SME has decided to strike back: every teacher, researcher or decision-maker working on the Research and Education field can ask for C&D licenses to equip his establishment, his colleagues or his students. This international development is a success that we wanted to share. For further detail, take a look at our GeoCampus pages: http://www.geocampus.comAnd at the Cartes & Données website: http://www.cartesetdonnees.com
