Wallingford Software mobilizes asset and data ....

Wallingford Software mobilizes asset and data management for water and wastewater operators – InfoStream acquisition

Wallingford Software, global leader in hydraulic and hydrologic water modelling and asset management software, has announced the acquisition of InfoStream, a leading mobile information software developer and systems integrator.

InfoStream’s tools provide users with a complete ‘office to field and field to office’ solution. It uses mobile technology to link field workers seamlessly and securely to InfoNet asset and data management software and can support a wide range of hardware including BlackBerrys, laptops, tablet PC’s and PDA’s.

Steve Tunstall, managing director of Wallingford Software explained: ‘InfoNet has gone mobile and that’s something the market will benefit from greatly. There are considerable time, cost, quality, accuracy and security pressures associated with data collection in the field. Creating a seamless bridge between the field and the centre means much greater efficiency, and the marriage of the InfoStream products and InfoNet makes this a reality - it’s the most complete solution available. The ease of configuration and the familiar interface belies the robust engineering behind the system, which allows people to work in the remotest of locations. It really will revolutionize asset and data management without the need for overpriced bespoke systems.’

David Boyle formed InfoStream after 15 years in the Water Industry and is now Head of the Asset Management and Mobile Technology Division at Wallingford Software. He commented: ‘There was no more natural a home for InfoStream than alongside InfoNet. I am delighted that by becoming part of the Wallingford Software family, with its world renowned pedigree, we have set the standard for asset and data management. People in the field can now see InfoNet as they would at the office, with all the data they need - including sketches, for example. At the same time, people in the office can assign tasks from a plan straight to a portable device in the field. Other advantages, such as the avoidance of double handling data, makes the whole process faster, easier, cheaper to manage and – crucially - far more accurate. ’

This major strategic move underlines Wallingford Software’s unique position in providing the most complete, cost effective and accurate tools to help customers save time and money while not compromising on quality and precision. With a heritage that stems from the UK Hydraulics Research Station and a reputation for investment in research and development, the company continues to provide leadership in modelling and asset management wherever water is involved.
