The GeoInformation Group supply aerial imagery for new BBC One series 'Britain from Above'

The GeoInformation® Group, publishers of Cities Revealed aerial photography (www.citiesrevealed.com), announce today that it has been working with Lion TV, the award winning production company, to assist in the production of the new BBC One ‘Britain from Above’ series. The first episode was broadcast on Sunday 10 August and attracted just over 5 million viewers (source: guardian.co.uk TV ratings). The GeoInformation Group provided consultancy services and the aerial photography used in this exciting production.

Britain from Above, a major series presented by Andrew Marr, uses revolutionary new aerial photography techniques to reveal Britain in a way never seen before. The GeoInformation Group supplied over 300 sq. km of aerial photography of London, including Cities Revealed LiDAR, Modern imagery captured in 2007, and Historic imagery from its extensive RAF and Luftwaffe archive. In addition it provided Modern and Historic imagery of the Rhondda Valley, Manchester and Swindon to illustrate the industrial legacy of Britain. It also provided aerial imagery of areas selected to show the changes and progress in transportation provision since the 1940's, such as Heathrow and Stansted airports and the M11 corridor.

The GeoInformation Group Historic Director, Chris Going, provided extensive archaeology consultancy services on the production and will also feature in the series.

The GeoInformation Group have become a regular supplier of aerial imagery to broadcasters including Emmy nominated productions for the History Channel as well as Modern imagery to CBBC and BBC Sport for coverage of the Flora London Marathon and The Great North Run.
