TENET’s MapRite delivers optimum results for PAI..

TENET’s MapRite delivers optimum results for PAI and Real World Change of spatial data at Poole Borough Council

Poole Borough Council has selected TENET’s MapRite solution to achieve both Positional Accuracy Improvement and Real World change of its spatial data.

Poole BC stopped updating most of their OS Land-Line map tiles in 2003 and since then over 2200 houses, flats and bungalows have either been built or demolished in their area. The situation was compounded by the fact that after a recent ICT system survey, the authority discovered over 40 different versions of OS Land-Line tiles were being used by various departments and software solutions.

Jeffrey Van Etten, GIS Manager at Poole, said, “This has presented us with some great challenges. Not only are we affected by PAI in our rural areas, the urban 1:1250 map tiles have also been largely affected by Real World change.

We required a sophisticated tool that would not only be able to tackle PAI but needed to be robust enough to assist with this ever-evolving issue. After evaluating several solutions, there was only one tool that impressed us sufficiently with its results; TENET’s MapRite.”

Poole Borough Council has over 1000 datasets to run through the PAI process. Once completed, all the council’s spatial data will be held in their Oracle database along with their OS MasterMap which Poole BC will be using as the new corporate map base. In order to maintain the high standard of spatial data held at Poole, TENET’s MapRite will highlight Change-Only Update information occurring across the Borough, within the map base and update the asset data accordingly.

TENET’s Marketing Director, Dr Sharon Cooper commented, ‘We are extremely pleased that Jeffrey and his team have joined our MapRite User community, we are looking forward to working more closely with them as an integral part of our Early Adopters program for the new MapRite Automated Capture Tool for the generation and maintenance of their BLPU data set. In particular, we know that Jeffrey has a wealth of experience in the Local Authority market which will ensure that the product functionality and delivery meet the present and future needs of the market place. ’

TENET ‘s MapRite is the market-leading PAI solution provider, based upon an established product technology proven in over 120 organisations, including Local Authorities, Utilities and Central Government organisations for the re-alignment of assets. MapRite has been shown to provide a robust, scalable solution with the lowest cost of ownership for Positional Accuracy Improvement customers.

This Month's Burning Issue...
Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.
This month's burning issue:

HAVE WE REALLY LEARNT THE LESSONS FROM LAST YEAR’S FLOODS?

Flooding costs associated with extreme weather, both financial and emotional, have increased considerably over the last decade, and experts have predicted this trend is set to continue.

Paul Livett, Chairman of GroundSure looks into how increasing the use of flood risk information in property transactions can help to ensure both residential and commercial transactions are conducted on a truly informed basis, with buyers being made aware of environmental risks prior to purchase.

Over 2.2 million homes and small businesses in the UK are located in areas considered at risk of flooding, and the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has said that 570,000 of these face a high risk of flooding. The floods in June and July last year left approximately 48,000 households… More…
