STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN BLOM AND KONGSBERG SATELLITE SERVICES
Blom ASA and Kongsberg Satellite Services AS has agreed to enter into a strategic partnership with the goal to create a unique provider of geospatial information services based on satellite imagery and airborne information, combined with the existing databases made available by Blom.
Through combination of existing geospatial databases and cost efficient services for collection of multi-satellite imagery, this partnership will develop monitoring and validation services for the forestry sector in support of the rainforest preservation programs.
Key areas of responsibility:
· KSAT – provision of satellite data/imagery and derived products
· Blom – provision of LiDAR data, aerial imagery and knowhow on forestry mapping
Furthermore, the partnership shall:
· Explore opportunities in “Rapid response”-applications to make use of KSAT’s unique access to Satellite-imagery and Blom’s resources within data libraries and geo server capabilities.
· Explore opportunities in making use of Blom’s extensive production capabilities to do value added processing of satellite data.
The services will be offered to public and private users worldwide.

Adopting Cloud computing can save money, but good governance is essential to manage the risk argues Mike Small
