Public Sector Information for re-use – now a top subject in Brussels

Expert line-up to point the way From Regulation to Action at PSI Alliance Annual Conference

An expert line-up of speakers from across Europe will address the forthcoming PSI Alliance Annual Conference in Brussels, which is now only a matter of months away.

Industry is urged to reserve their place in Brussels to hear and engage in debate with leaders at the cutting edge of developments in the PSI arena, which is beginning to witness a move From Regulation to Action.

The Conference takes place against the backdrop of a fast changing PSI landscape, with Government’s across Europe altering their approach to holding and re-using information, and the PSI Alliance is offering a unique opportunity to understand these developments.

Speakers at the Conference include:
- Professor Nigel Shadbolt, UK Government Information Adviser
- Javier Hernandez-Ros, Head of Unit, Access to Information, European Commission
- Gustaf Johnssén, Senior Advisor, Swedish Ministry of Finance
- Ignacio Durán Boo, Deputy General Director Cadastre , Spanish Ministry Economy and Finance
- Michael Fanning, Online Consultants International Gmbh
- Rolf Nordqvist, PSI Alliance Chair

Professor Shadbolt is Information Advisor to the UK Government and, together with Sir Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web, was asked by the British Prime Minister to transform public access to information held by the Government. This has resulted in data.gov.uk, a site that gives UK citizens ground-breaking access to raw government data for re-use.

Javier Hernandez-Ros will update on the Commission’s position on Public Sector Information; Gustaf Johnssén will talk about the development of Sweden’s new PSI law; Ignacio Durán Boo will speak on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Finance and PSI Alliance members will share their own considerable experience of PSI re-use across the continent.

The PSI Alliance annual conference is to be held on Wednesday 16th June 2010.

For more information about the conference and to reserve a place please contact Daniel Bacall at info@psialliance.eu
