Pitney Bowes Business Insight Releases New Version of Spectrum™ Technology Platform

Spectrum™ Technology Platform v6.4 Expands Location Domain Knowledge and Global Addressing Capabilities to Help Organisations Optimise Business Performance

Windsor, Berks – 9 June, 2010 – Pitney Bowes Business Insight today announced the release of Pitney Bowes Spectrum™ Technology Platform v6.4, the latest version of its multi-domain data management solution. With expanded location data domain knowledge, support for transliteration and 64-bit processing power, the Spectrum Technology Platform helps provide actionable customer intelligence required for a competitive advantage. By improving the quality, integration, accessibility and value of enterprise information, the Spectrum Technology Platform helps organisations create data that is “fit for use” so they can better understand, service and grow customer relationships.

The Pitney Bowes Spectrum Technology Platform v6.4 provides organisations with a comprehensive, modular platform for enterprise-wide data quality, data integration and location intelligence. The new features in this latest release better support international address quality, help enterprises perform complex spatial queries to deliver location-based insight, and provide a foundation for improving financial data quality and predictive modelling.

“Organisations need accurate and trustworthy data to make intelligent business decisions. In addition to a proper data quality and data integration process that ensures that customer and product data is current, readily accessible location-based data supports decision-making processes across all enterprise applications,” said Andreas Bitterer, vice president, Gartner Research.

“Enterprise data is the lifeblood of any organisation, driving critical daily operations and strategic business decisions around customer services, market growth and competitive threats,” said Navin Sharma, director of global product strategy, Pitney Bowes Business Insight. “Location insight is no longer restricted to GIS. With more features for unleashing the power of location-based data in concert with existing capabilities that deliver accurate and reliable customer and product information, the Spectrum Technology Platform provides the industry’s most comprehensive set of solutions for harnessing the power of enterprise data assets.”

The Spectrum Technology Platform uniquely aggregates core data assets across the enterprise. For example, a major insurance carrier uses Spectrum Technology Platform’s data quality and location intelligence functionality to blend demographic data, customer profiles and other proprietary information to create compelling customer messages, which are incorporated in customer correspondence and statements.

The Pitney Bowes Spectrum Technology Platform includes five core solutions, encompassing Enterprise Data Quality,Enterprise Data Governance, Enterprise Data Integration, Enterprise Location Intelligence and Enterprise Business Services. These modular solutions enable organisations to optimise the performance of existing enterprise applications, improve business processes, drive more intelligent decisions and build stronger customer relationships.

New features and benefits in the Pitney Bowes Spectrum Technology Platform v.6.4 include:
Support for Transliteration — Universal Addressing Module (UAM) now provides support for character set mapping and transliteration, which converts the characters and words of one language into another. For example, customers who mail or ship globally, or want to utilise address information in applications that only support the Latin alphabet, will have the capability to convert Chinese or Greek characters into Latin characters.
Enhanced Location Intelligence Functionality—The Location Intelligence Module now includes the ability to read directly from spatial sources such as MapInfo TAB, ESRI SHP and Oracle Spatial formats. A new “Spatial Calculator” function operates on geometrical data types to perform complex validation, transformation and calculations to deliver location insight. Additionally, a new “Find Nearest” function incorporates fastest and shortest time calculations to identify points-of-interest with greater precision and accuracy. The Enterprise Routing Module has also been enhanced to provide travel cost matrix calculations, which can be used to determine the risk of an insured property or person based on emergency response times.
64-bit Architecture— The Spectrum Technology Platform now supports 64-bit processing, which enables faster processing with greater memory utilisation.
Ability to Perform Mathematical Functions—The new Expression Calculator and Statistical Calculator enable the Spectrum Technology Platform to work with numeric data, introducing the foundation for both financial data quality and predictive modelling.

Availability
The Spectrum Technology Platform v.6.4 is available June 4, 2010, with data and business services that can be purchased for in-house consumption in real-time or batch mode, delivered as a pure hosted service, or alternatively, as a hybrid solution. Customers may elect to purchase functionalities by module or by solution.
