Open Source Event

Dotted Eyes Ltd, the premier spatial solutions provider, will be holding a free event on the 28th January 2010 at the Jury's Inn, Broad Street, in central Birmingham, to discuss the benefits of Open Software, Standards and Data.

The event is aimed towards dispelling the fears surrounding the usage and implementation of Open Source and has already received massive interest from public and commercial sectors across the country.

"Open source is a development method for software that harnesses the power of distributed peer review and transparency of process. The promise of open source is better quality, higher reliability, more flexibility, lower cost, and an end to predatory vendor lock-in." - Open Source Initiative

With over 120 registrations already, this informative event should prove to be the turning point for the implementation of open source software, data and standards.

Dotted Eyes will be hosting a number of presentations over the course of the day outlining the direct cost savings, the freedom from vendor lock-in, interoperable data systems and best practice.

Patrick Costello, Sales Director at Dotted Eyes said:

“the aim of the Open Source event is to educate our customers in the benefits of using open source solutions while dispelling the fears surrounding it by proving a comprehensive after sales and training package. By passing the savings, associated with open data and software on to our customers, we can provide a cost effective solution that can be trusted. The interest for this event has absolutely blown us away. We saw success in gaining around 40 sign ups but due to the over whelming demand for places, we’ve had to expand the event significantly and are pleased to do so and look forward to seeing everyone who attends.”

The event will be designed to promote open source software by educating developers, decision makers, and users about the advantages of open source software and collaboration techniques specifically aimed towards the public and commercial sector alike.
