Ordnance Survey is to launch a new Accreditation Scheme as part of its Partner Alliance Programme to help it meet the changing needs of its partner community and customers.
The new scheme, which will come into affect in April 2008, will make it easier for interested organisations and businesses to take the first
step on the partner journey. A list of key commitments for both parties is clearly laid out including new incentives for partners and increased support from Ordnance Survey to help foster closer working relationships.
Ordnance Survey's partner programme allows commercial organisations to licence its intelligent geographic information to created value added products. This is exactly how Ordnance Survey's road network data ends
up in the sat nav products on shop shelves, for example.
James Brayshaw, Ordnance Survey's Sales and Market Development Director, says, "Partnerships are key to the success of Ordnance Survey - they underpin everything we do. We needed to revise our previous partner scheme to help meet the changing needs of our customers.
"I think the enhanced programme defines the value of being an Ordnance Survey partner and offers the products, training, tools and support needed to help satisfy our partners' needs and grow their businesses."
Ordnance Survey will have four levels of commercial partners with a differentiated level of commitment by both parties at each level:
Partner status provides the opportunity to work with Ordnance Survey with the minimum of commitment. Partners will be provided with
telephone-based account management and technical support.
Certified Partners will be those that are beginning to establish themselves within the market. Ordnance Survey will provide marketing
funding and the use of the Business Centre in its Southampton head office one day a year.
Certified Advanced Partners will receive, in addition to the support given to Partners and Certified Partners, a dedicated external account manager, access to external technical support, additional marketing funding and two days use of the Business Centre.
Premier Partners will receive additional support and resources, including a dedicated external technical support consultant, increased marketing funding, a chance to discuss key strategic initiatives with Ordnance Survey executives and three days use of the Business Centre.

Over 2.2 million homes and small businesses in the UK are located in areas considered at risk of flooding, and the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has said that 570,000 of these face a high risk of flooding. The floods in June and July last year left approximately 48,000 households… More…
