New Year new courses at ICES

Following the recent attainment of a Royal Charter, ICES, the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors, has launched a set of career development courses following demand from businesses all over the world.

THE ICES Advanced Development Schemes (ADS) offer civil engineering employees training, development and experience to gain the skills necessary for ICES membership.

The schemes are developed with companies such as Balfour Betty, BAM Nuttall, Carillion Engineering and Construction and Network Rail. Employers become mentors and ICES Approved Development Partners. The schemes add value to employment packages to help improve recruitment, motivation and retention of high calibre employees. Developing an ICES AD Scheme ultimately leads to a professional qualification and to ensure employees develop their roles quickly and efficiently.

Serena Ronan, professional development coordinator of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors, said:

“AD Schemes play an important role in the motivation and retention of high calibre employees. They require dedication from both employers and employees but the pay off is that both parties gain relevant experience and develop skills.

“We are particularly keen to work closer with key companies to promote ICES Approved Development Schemes as a cost effective staff development tool. “

ADS have been approved by The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) for candidates who are working towards their Member grade and who are eligible for CITB grants.

The Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors was established in 1969 in order to support the professional development of surveyors working in the civil engineering industry.
