Navigate your way around Barcelona with Telmap

Telmap, in partnership with Lonely Planet, has developed a free GPS-enabled mobile navigation guide to Barcelona exclusive to Mobile World Congress 2008

Telmap, the world leader in advanced mobile navigation solutions, today announced the launch of a special edition of its mobile navigation software, Telmap Navigator, to help Mobile World Congress visitors make the most of their time in Barcelona. The software has been produced in conjunction with Lonely Planet, and includes the locations of a wide variety of places of interest in and around Barcelona, from bars and restaurants, to museums and art galleries.

Using advanced mobile GPS mapping, Navigator helps visitors get around the show by day and navigate around the city by night - on foot or by car - with just a few clicks. The Mobile World Congress version of Telmap Navigator is available to download from www.telmap.com/mwc, for a 30-day free trial throughout Mobile World Congress. Not only does this include the basic navigational tools, but also speed camera and traffic alerts to help with those traffic hotspots en route to and from the conference.

Telmap will be attending the Congress next week in Barcelona - located at Stand 1E02, Hall 1 and at the BlackBerry Stand 8B56, Hall 8, demonstrating the latest in mobile navigation and LBS technologies on the hottest devices available in the market. Telmap will demonstrate their most recent commercially available solution launched in Europe with Vodafone, Orange FT and The Carphone Warehouse.

Telmap boasts the largest customer base in the EMEA region, including Vodafone, Vodacom, O2, The Carphone Warehouse, Pelephone, amongst others.

“As the single largest event for the mobile industry worldwide, getting around Barcelona during this week can be hard work at the best of times”, said Oren Nissim, CEO of Telmap. “Thanks to Telmap’s technology and Lonely Planet’s content, visitors can make sure they are never late for a meeting – whether it’s at the show, at a restaurant, or even in a bar later that evening!”

As well as being available throughout the show for briefings Oren Nissim, CEO of Telmap will be participating in a panel discussion on “Which way to go – the right technology for the right application” during the “Location, Location, Location” session, taking place on Wednesday, 13th February.

This Month's Burning Issue...
Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.
This month's burning issue:

HAVE WE REALLY LEARNT THE LESSONS FROM LAST YEAR’S FLOODS?

Flooding costs associated with extreme weather, both financial and emotional, have increased considerably over the last decade, and experts have predicted this trend is set to continue.

Paul Livett, Chairman of GroundSure looks into how increasing the use of flood risk information in property transactions can help to ensure both residential and commercial transactions are conducted on a truly informed basis, with buyers being made aware of environmental risks prior to purchase.

Over 2.2 million homes and small businesses in the UK are located in areas considered at risk of flooding, and the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has said that 570,000 of these face a high risk of flooding. The floods in June and July last year left approximately 48,000 households… More…
