NORTHERN IRELAND WATER CHOOSE INNOGISTIC FOR NEW WEB GIS

Northern Ireland Water has today announced that it has chosen Innogistic to supply and implement its new intranet GIS Viewer+ system. The appointment was made following a competitive tender process.
The new GIS installation will be based on Innogistic’s highly successful Cartology.Net Web GIS and will be rolled out across the organisation over the next few months. The solution will provide intranet access to the company’s Corporate Asset Register (CAR) as well as improved system integration with important corporate datasets such as Customer Services and Data Warehousing. The solution will also link to Northern Ireland Water’s Real Time Asset monitoring system.
Sean O’Boyle, Northern Ireland Water’s Asset Information Development Manager explained the new solution: “Like all utility companies, we are facing an increasing demand for asset data and geospatial services from across our organisation as well as from external contractors and stakeholders. Because of this, we in the Asset Management Section are always striving to improve the quality of our asset data. Our old system had limitations in terms of user access and GIS tools, so our new solution’s functionality is all about empowering a greater number of our users to communicate changes to the CAR in a more streamlined manner.”
When asked about the tender Sean said: “We put in place a particularly rigorous selection process including detailed assessments and demonstrations. Innogistic were appointed as they had the right solutions to give us what we wanted. As well as improving the access and quality of our data, their solution needed to show how it could dovetail with our company wide business processes improvement programme. They were able to do this and were also able to provide evidence of the benefits their solutions had given to other water utilities, which was very important for us.”
Kevin North, Innogistic’s Utilities Business Manager said: “Naturally we are absolutely delighted to have won this tender. As Sean has said; it was a particularly demanding tender process but we always knew that we had the best solutions for them. We also have a lot of experience with other Water Utilities, in particular Yorkshire Water, and the experience gained from this has definitely paid off. We are very happy with this award and are very much looking forward to working with Sean and his team.” David Roberts, Innogistic’s Managing Director said: “This is a great win for us; it fits precisely to our strengths in database integration and management, combined with our cutting edge GIS technology. We are all very pleased to be working on this project. ”
