Masternaut Three X acquires FibreCity....

Masternaut Three X acquires FibreCity in multi-million pound deal

The UK’s leading web-based telematics and mobile solutions company, Masternaut Three X, has acquired FibreCity, the leading-edge ISP based in Aberford, Leeds, in a deal worth GBP 6 million.

Established by Brannan Tempest and Craig Tempest, FibreCity has been a front-runner in the Internet service provision and applications market since the company was founded in 1987. The acquisition of FibreCity enables Masternaut Three X to provide more extended hosted back-office solutions that are fully integrated with its telematics and mobile software.

“This is a significant development for Masternaut Three X. It allows us to provide comprehensive service and solutions packages to our customers that include secure fully-managed hosting in our own state-of-the-art datacentres,” said Martin Port, MD, Masternaut Three X.

In addition, the deal has enabled Masternaut Three X to expand its premises to over 25,000 sq ft and its team of highly skilled team to 150.

Commenting on FibreCity’s capabilities and skills sets, Martin Port said:
“ FibreCity has an interesting range of Blue Chip customer such as Aga Rayburn, BAE Systems, Fired Earth and NASA. The ISP has also been providing us with first-class secure hosting for Masternaut Three X applications. We have always been impressed by Brannan and Craig’s attitude to business and customer service. This acquisition is the right thing for us at a time when we are enjoying phenomenal success and growth. We are pleased that we have been able to complete this deal with them and we look forward to adding their competencies and support to the team.”

Brannan Tempest added: “Masternaut Three X has an enviable reputation in its marketplace, and we saw an opportunity to sell the business to an organisation that can build on what Fibre City has achieved since its establishment. An exit from Fibre City will allow us to focus on other opportunities and interests.”

Masternaut Three X is one the fastest growing technology companies in the UK, with a Microsoft Tech Track 100 award in 2007. More recently the company was voted as one of the UK’s Best Companies to work for with a first class Best Companies award. Its impressive customer list includes larger enterprises such as Tarmac, United Biscuits, Carillion, Ringway and British Airways.

Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.

HAVE WE REALLY LEARNT THE LESSONS FROM LAST YEAR’S FLOODS?

Flooding costs associated with extreme weather, both financial and emotional, have increased considerably over the last decade, and experts have predicted this trend is set to continue.

Paul Livett, Chairman of GroundSure looks into how increasing the use of flood risk information in property transactions can help to ensure both residential and commercial transactions are conducted on a truly informed basis, with buyers being made aware of environmental risks prior to purchase.

Over 2.2 million homes and small businesses in the UK are located in areas considered at risk of flooding, and the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has said that 570,000 of these face a high risk of flooding. The floods in June and July last year left approximately 48,000 households… More…
