MapInfo Professional v10.0 Echoes the Voice of the Customer
Pitney Bowes Business Insight has launched MapInfo Professional® v10.0, the latest version of the company’s flagship application for business mapping and analysis.
Based on consultation with over 400 customers, MapInfo Professional v10.0 is easier to use, facilitates swift access to multiple data sources and accommodates unprecedented map sharing. This definitive upgrade will help organisations to be more productive through faster, cost effective and more insightful decision making.
“Overall, the advancements in usability in MapInfo Professional v10.0 go significantly further in delivering the definitive tool for location related tasks,” said John Shurvington GIS Manager, Portsmouth City Council, one of the valued customers involved in beta testing the new upgrade. “PBBI has listened to our feedback and effectively integrated a number of important capabilities into MapInfo Professional v10.0 which are very welcome indeed!”
Key advantages of MapInfo Professional v10.0 include:
• Greater ease of use and improved productivity - A more intuitive user interface for mapping operations makes MapInfo Professional v10.0 easier to learn for new users and improves productivity for experienced users. MapInfo Professional users get more done in less time with v10.0
• Enhanced data access - MapInfo Professional v10.0 supports PostGIS, an open source database, providing a cost effective option for central data storage and wider improved data access capabilities, as well as adding full support for Microsoft SQL Server 2008. Direct access to these databases avoids the need for middleware solutions
• Improved map sharing with Layered PDF output - An integrated layered PDF generator adds to MapInfo Professional’s arsenal of map sharing and cartographic output options providing a new and powerful way to share results that are industry standard and immediately usable in most, if not all organisations.
With these significant new features MapInfo Professional v10.0 represents a quantum leap forward in productivity and cost savings for organisations, helping them to more effectively harness the critical relationship between data and location to make better business decisions.
