Leica Geosystems Extends its Award Winning SmartNet Service to Ireland
Leica Geosystems has extended its award
winning SmartNet RTK correction network to Ireland, making it the first commercial RTK network fully operational in the region. Leica Geosystems has been working in partnership with Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSI) and
Ordnance Survey Northern Ireland (OSNI) over the past year to extend the popular commercial network to cover the entirety of mainland Ireland. Dublin based Survey Instrument Services (SIS) has been appointed as a distribution partner for Leica SmartNet in Ireland.
SmartNet Ireland is enabled by a network of 19 OSI and OSNI base stations across mainland Ireland. Powered exclusively by Leica GPS Spider software, SmartNet Ireland is able to deliver corrections at centimetre level in RTK
mode and can provide RINEX data for post processing. Leica GPS Spider allows OSI and OSNI to centrally control and operate its network of base stations for centralised data distribution.
“Leica SmartNet is growing from strength to strength and we are pleased to be able to offer this service to the Irish market. We have developed the service significantly over the past two years offering our customers
extended value added services which has contributed to its popularity and success in the marketplace.” Commented John Fraser, Managing Director, Leica Geosystems UK and Ireland.
