Leica FPES v10.1 boosts productivity and efficiency in flight planning

Leica Geosystems is pleased to announce a new version of its powerful Leica Flight Planning & Evaluation Software (FPES). Leica FPES v10.1 allows a fast and automatic load of DTM data with sophisticated computation capabilities. Beside many other enhancements Leica FPES v10.1 supports Windows OS including Windows 7, and a flexible data import and export in different formats including Google Earth.

Leica FPES v10.1 offers the most advanced functionality and highest efficiency in flight planning for all Leica Geosystems airborne sensors to ensure seamless workflow, but also supports other airborne frame, line or on/off sensors. With an easy to learn, easy to use and highly customizable graphical interface, Leica FPES is the first step in powering geospatial imaging.

Fast and automatic load of world wide DTM data for flight planning
Customers can now take advantage of an extremely fast and automatic load of worldwide DTM data covering the area of the flight plan. The flight plan can be in any coordinate system. The transformation of the data is handled by FPES automatically. In addition local DTMs in all common formats are supported. The new version provides a tool to convert DTMs to georeferenced bitmaps.

Sophisticated computation algorithms
Leica FPES v10.1 computes flight lines to ensure gap-free stereoscopic coverage of areas. This can be an area of interest (AOI) of any shape, a corridor or an individual single line. Various parameters can be pre-set and tuned to adapt the flight plan layout according to preferences or to fit the exposures to a given map-sheet layout. Safety factors allow users to conveniently optimize their flight planning without editing the polygon points of an AOI.

Quality Control tool
To verify or to optimize the flight planning on difficult terrain and for evaluation of flown lines Leica FPES provides a convenient QC tool which presents adaptable color coded GSD, LIDAR point density or image scale of the footprint of a flight line.

Flexible data import and export
The data import and export in Leica FPES is now even more flexible. The most common formats including Google Earth and export to UNS and 3rd party Flight Management Systems (FMS) are supported. The powerful data export simplifies the creation of proposals, reports, and invoices.

Microsoft Windows 7 capable
The new release of Leica FPES v10.1 supports Windows OS including Windows 7 (32 bit and 64 bit).

Availability
Leica FPES v10.1 is available immediately and ready for download for Customers of Leica FPES which are on Software Maintenance.
