LONDON YOUTH SCIENCE EVENT SETTLES INTO A NEW HOME

Join London International Youth Science Forum for a nuclear house warming event

As Barack Obama looks towards future developments and Darwin’s birthday reignites past discoveries, science has been put firmly back on the agenda for 2009.

In order to meet growing demand, one of the world’s most prestigious gatherings of young scientists - the London International Youth Science Forum has moved and is setting up residence at Imperial College London from 29th July - 12th August 2009.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the esteemed event will explore the concept of ‘Science Serving Mankind’. An enviable host of guest speakers will provide insight and debate into topics including; renewable energies, cancer treatment in 2009, nuclear research and Darwin’s influence in modern scientific thought.

This year the Rector of Imperial College, Professor Sir Roy Anderson, will welcome participants to LIYSF alongside key note speaker and leading Physicist, Professor John Ellis, from the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN). As he continues to lead the way in the discovery of the “God particle”, Professor Ellis will provide students with an invaluable insight into the ultimate question of the existence of humanity.

Professor Ellis will be joined by Professor Richard O’Kennedy, President of LIYSF and specialist in Biochemistry. Professor O’Kennedy is a past attendee of the event alongside guest speakers Dr Keith Martin and Dr David Burt. Each has gone on to be an expert in their field and are now returning to inspire the next generation of science leaders.

Attracting 300 outstanding science students globally aged 17-21 years old and from over 60 participating countries, LIYSF is dedicated to catalysing interactions between young people throughout the world with science as a central theme.

“I’m overjoyed to be involved on a practical level with this year’s event,” says Richard O’Kennedy, President of LIYSF. “The young scientists who attend LIYSF are the future of science and this event provides the opportunity to further inspire and develop their passion.”

“We’re fortunate to have support from the leading experts in the science field and LIYSF 2009 is set to be the strongest event to date.”

LIYSF 2009 opens its doors to budding scientists from 29th July - 12th August 2009, apply now!
