GI solutions in health - sharing good practice across Wales and the wider GI community
AGI Cymru has arranged this event 'GI solutions in health' to demonstrate the practical application of GIS in health; share experiences and expertise relating to this technology and to promote good practice.
Topics to be covered during the proceedings range from the more strategic viewpoint surrounding data flow issues in the presentation entitled Better Intelligence for our Healthier Future, to case study examples of the practical application of GIS in exploring access to dental practices; Health Maps Wales a mapping tool aimed at making data on hospital admissions, mortality, cancer incidence available to a wider range of users including the general public; facilitating deprivation/rural-urban analyses of children's dental health data and in applying drivetime analyses to various aspects of health care provision.
The event will be of relevance to those working in health or health related disciplines within the NHS (e.g. the National Public Health Service for Wales, Public Health Observatories in England), local (local council departments with responsibilities to their Health Social Care and Well-being strategies) or national government agencies (e.g. Welsh Assembly Government) and academia who have been using (or intend to use) GIS to help in visualising and clarifying public health issues.
