Infoterra establishes Symetri Geo business unit...

Infoterra establishes Symetri Geo business unit to drive sales of ERDAS, Google Earth and Safe Software applications

- One Stop Shop for solutions, support and consultancy from leading geo expert, Infoterra

Infoterra Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of EADS Astrium, has today launched a new Geographical Software Business Unit - Symetri Geo - focused exclusively on the resale, distribution, and provision of technical and training support for the company's expanding portfolio of third party geo-software products. Symetri Geo - www.symetri-geo.co.uk - will provide Infoterra customers using ERDAS desktop and enterprise products, the FME desktop and server suite and Google Earth Enterprise with a single point of access for all their geo-software requirements. The business unit will be developing further capabilities to deliver spatial data infrastructure (SDI) solutions that provide INSPIRE compliance. In addition, Symetri Geo will also support customers with a single point of contact to help ensure the success of their geographical data management projects.

Symetri Geo is the sole UK and Ireland distributor of ERDAS software, is a Google Enterprise Partner licenced to sell Google Fusion Server and Google Earth Server, a Safe Software partner for the FME suite of GIS and CAD data translation software, and is also fully accredited and certified to train customers in the use of ERDAS and FME software. Symetri Geo will continue to support defence, security and government agencies with robust spatial data management solutions as a single source provider for all their core geo software requirements, backed by the strength and expertise of Infoterra the UK's leading provider of integrated geo-solutions.

"Creating Symetri Geo as a central resource for all our third party geo-software activities will allow us to provide our geospatial software product customers with easy access to all their key support capabilities and regular software updates - as well as insight into upcoming product developments," commented Dave Fox, Infoterra Ltd's CEO. "Focusing our software activities within Symetri Geo will enable Infoterra to deliver geosoftware products and services more efficiently. We can also provide customers with access to our collective 50 years' experience gained through the provision of complex geo projects ranging from ortho-imagery production and habitat analysis through to 3D visualisation for urban and rural landscapes."

"With ERDAS, Google Earth and Safe Software, we've created an impressive portfolio of market-leading geo-software, and Symetri Geo is ideally placed to help customers with all their geographical data management, manipulation and delivery requirements. Providing such a one-stop service will become particularly important with the growing requirement for organisations to share their data with the wider EU community in accordance with the INSPIRE implementing rules," added Dave Fox.

Symetri Geo's range of geo products includes not only ERDAS IMAGINE and ERDAS LPS, but also ERDAS ER Mapper and enterprise software such as ERDAS APOLLO and TITAN. FME Desktop and FME Server both sit alongside the ERDAS products in a complementary fashion. Symetri Geo also supports customers with the ability to create their own Google Earth environments, either through the standalone provision of Google Earth Enterprise software or as part of a broader geo solution designed to provide access to geographical data throughout an organisation.
