ITT announces advanced image processing capabilities and support for SAR data from COSMO-SkyMed
ENVI and SARscape software provide support and image processing tools for COSMO-SkyMed satellite data geoprocessing and analysis.
ITT Visual Information Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT), announced its ENVI software product and add-on SARscape Modules for ENVI now provide tools and support for processing the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data and imagery generated by COSMO-SkyMed - a satellite system launched and managed by the Italian Space Agency (ASI).
SAR data is becoming more popular for commercial, research, and government purposes because of its ability to provide crucial data both day and night and in virtually all weather conditions. “We are committed to providing consumers of satellite imagery and data with the tools and support they need for the latest data types and formats available,” said Beau Legeer, director of product marketing for ITT Visual Information Solutions. “ENVI with SARscape is an excellent choice for consumers of SAR data, as it allows users to take advantage of proven SAR processing technology directly from the familiar ENVI workflow.”
ENVI and the SARscape Modules for ENVI, along with the frequent data coming from the COSMO-SkyMed satellite constellation, provide users with the ability to obtain crucial information from SAR imagery quickly and easily. These solutions provide the tools for fully automated geocoding of SAR data through a simple user interface allowing users to create a high precision product without the need for ground control points. The SARscape Modules for ENVI, developed by sarmap SA of Switzerland, provide dedicated SAR processing algorithms enabling users to automatically generate speckle filtered, calibrated and geocoded products from Single Look Complex data or any other COSMO-SkyMed standard product. They also deliver easy to use, powerful interferometry tools for generating Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and land displacement maps, which are particularly useful for defense and intelligence, land mapping, disaster monitoring and seismic applications.
