ISPRS and The ISPRS Foundation Announce Grants for Science Initiatives
ISPRS and The ISPRS Foundation have agreed to fund three projects proposed by ISPRS Working Groups:
• Integrating Virtual Globes and Web Service Technologies for ISPRS Higher Education Teaching and Research, awarded to Professor Jianya Gong, LIESMARS, Wuhan University, ISPRS Working Group IV/4 - http://www.commission4.isprs.org/wg4/
• Establishment of a blogging, forum and image sharing systems as part of the current ISPRS web presence, awarded to Dr Andrew Hudson-Smith from UCL and Dr Chris Pettit, University of Melbourne, ISPRS Working Group II/6 -http://www.isprs.org/technical_commissions/wgtc_2.aspx#wg_II/6
• Compilation of an authoritative, on-line bibliography on Terrestrial Laser Scanning, awarded to Dr Derek Lichti, University of Calgary, ISPRS Working Group V/3

These awards will allow the working groups to develop activities within their areas of interest and to demonstrate and promote the interests of ISPRS. Further information on these projects can be obtained from the Working Group chairs through their websites.

The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing is a non-governmental organization devoted to the development of international cooperation for the advancement of knowledge, research, development, education and training in the photogrammetry, remote sensing and spatial information sciences. This is a registered philanthropic entity that has been established solely to provide financial assistance and in-kind support for the benevolent purposes of the ISPRS. As a public charity, TIF raises, invests and grants funds to provide scholarships, awards, training supplies, and other forms of support to qualified individuals and organizations that are pursuing the goals of the ISPRS, especially for those in emerging markets and regions.
TIF promotes international cooperation by supporting research initiatives for advancing the disciplines and technologies of the photogrammetry, remote sensing and spatial information sciences.
