IMS Offers Unique Geospatial Access With New Autodesk Partnership
Spatial data information systems provider, Integrated Managed Services (IMS), is to become a Value Added Reseller (VAR) of Autodesk geospatial solutions. This will include AutoCAD Map 3D – the leading GIS platform for managing spatial data – and Autodesk MapGuide technology to quickly and easily publish maps and design information.
The IMS offering is provided via a unique technological approach: IMS will be the first VAR in the UK to offer AutoCAD Map 3D by hosting the data, via Citrix, from its data centres in London and the US.
IMS worked in collaboration with Autodesk to develop the platform which provides AutoCAD and spatial data users with a new way of mapping by bringing their discrete departments together. IMS has created one central database where users can access the data in real-time via Citrix and the web. In creating this technological first, IMS believes its new managed solution answers a market need in sectors including utilities, local government and engineering to provide users with a seamless interface and make geospatial data easier to access and share across entire operations.
“It will dramatically improve workflow and break up the memory stick culture,” says IMS Director, Adam Jull. “It will also solve network security issues and open up a world of opportunity for multi-user access to previously fragmented data,” he adds.
IMS is confident that many of its existing customers as well as new clients will benefit from this solution which will provide access to the best geospatial knowledge-sharing tools and ensure the consistency and integrity of their geospatial data.
Headquartered in central London, IMS has extensive experience in providing operational solutions to organisations with large spatial databases, notably around spatial data integration and quality control. Like Autodesk, it has a strategy of forming affiliations with like-minded partners offering standards-based, flexible, open and interoperable solutions.
Tracey Stone, Autodesk Geospatial sales manager Northern Europe, says: “We’re delighted that a technology-focused firm like IMS has joined our extensive global partner network. We believe that our combined expertise, knowledge and solutions provide a powerful proposition for customers wanting to maximise the value of their geospatial data and, in particular, reap the benefits of the seamless integration of CAD and GIS.”

Adopting Cloud computing can save money, but good governance is essential to manage the risk argues Mike Small
