For the second year running GGP Systems is celebrating success after its UK Local Authority clients have received recognition at a prestigious national awards ceremony. The London Borough of Haringey and Blackpool Council, both users of GGP’s advanced gazetteer management software, were praised for their pioneering use of the definitive national address and street databases; the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) and National Street Gazetteer (NSG), having demonstrated measurable improvements in service delivery, operational efficiencies and customer service.
The 2008 NLPG and NSG Exemplar Awards are designed to recognise outstanding service delivery, effort, commitment and innovation by local authorities, fire and police in the creation, maintenance and utilisation of the definitive national address database. Jointly presented by Intelligent Addressing and the Improvement and Development Agency the award ceremony took place at a one day conference ‘Underpinning Transformational Government – everything happens somewhere’ held at Birmingham ICC on the 16th October.
“The winners of the 2008 NLPG and NSG Exemplar Awards demonstrate just how far NLPG and NSG initiatives have progressed in the last few years,” said Michael Nicholson, Managing Director of Intelligent Addressing. “The hard work and professionalism of those working in local authorities in creating both the NLPG and NSG over the last eight years continues to bear fruit and encourage further innovation.”
The London Borough of Haringey received the award for Best Integration of the NLPG and NSG. A project to improve automatic reporting of incidents through the use of the gazetteers and online mapping was thought to demonstrate technical innovation and has led to a reduced administrative burden. Meanwhile Blackpool Council received a ‘Highly Commended’ for Best Business Process Transformation for the use of the latest mobile technology to improve street scene services. This is the third year running Blackpool Council has received recognition at these awards.
Both Councils are users of GGP’s gazetteer management software, NGz. GGP NGz is specifically designed to manage a Council’s LLPG; ensuring a consistent, up to date and accurate base for all property based information within the organisation. GGP NGz also manages the import and export of data between the local authority database and the NLPG, the national hub. The complete GGP NGz product suite was one of the first two software solutions to receive accreditation to the new national address standard BS7666.
GGP Systems specialise in GIS and Gazetteer Management software specifically designed for the UK public sector. The South London based company provides easy to use solutions for the creation and management of corporate property databases, the ability to add and use a spatial element to all location based information and a range of solutions to meet t-Government directives.
