FARO joins The Survey Association (TSA)

Coventry, 17th December 2009 - FARO, the world's leading provider of portable measurement and imaging systems, announces that the company has joined The Survey Association (TSA).

The Survey Association, more commonly known as TSA, was formed in 1979 to represent the views and business concerns of the private surveying companies in the United Kingdom.

As the Architecture and Civil Engineering industry is a key sector for FARO it is important to be a part of the TSA, according to David Homewood, Area Vice President of Sales for the UK, France and Benelux. "Our laser scanners can be used for a wide range of industries - i.e. Architecture, Civil Engineering, Heritage, Surveying and Process/Power/Piping, to name only a few. The FARO Laser Scanner Photon offers high accuracy and long range - thanks to hypermodulation - which makes the system the preferred choice for many companies from the Surveying and Architecture industry. In order to stay ahead of the competition we've recently also signed an agreement with UCL in order to bring new technology to the Architectural and Civil Engineering sector."

One of FARO's customers, GSS/DJA (Geospatial Survey Solutions and Deri Jones & Associates), carried out a 3D laser scan survey of HMS Victory, Nelson's flagship and oldest commissioned Navy vessel in the world. The record will allow accurate reconstruction and relocation of any fittings or planking, giving fast checking of refitted components.

Another customer, APR Services, scanned the Shakespeare Globe in order to create accurate plans primarily for the stage and backstage areas which would allow for planning of plan stage designs, sets and layouts.
