Everything happens somewhere....

Terra future 2009 at the Royal Geographical Society, London, 24-25 February.

Everything happens somewhere – that’s geography. Geography is the stage on which all natural and human activity plays out. So when it comes to creating sustainable living and transportation, as well as tackling climate change, geographic information coupled with mass collaboration are essential ingredients.

Our keynote speakers

- Charles Leadbeater
In 2008, The Spectator Magazine described Charles as "the wizard of the web". Accenture, the global management consultancy, has ranked him one of the 30 top management thinkers in the world, and in 2007 the Financial Times describes him as the outstanding innovation expert in the UK.
Charles will be addressing the Terra future delegates on how mass collaboration and geography can be harnessed to tackle the global challenges of climate change and sustainable living.

- Lord Puttnam of Queensgate
Lord David Puttnam, the film maker and Labour peer, is the founding Chair of NESTA, the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts. He is the Deputy Chairman of Channel 4 and in April 2008 was appointed Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Climate Change Bill Scrutiny Committee.
Lord Puttnam and is a key advocate of the role of serious gaming and virtual worlds to educate children to policymakers on climate change and sustainability.

- Ian Pearson
From 1991 until 2007, Ian was BT’s Futurologist, tracking and predicting new developments throughout information technology, considering both technological and social implications. He now does exactly the same things for Futurizon, a start-up futures institute.
Ian’s Terra future address will focus on the role of technology in addressing climate change.

- Robin Mannings
Robin's main interests are focused on the future of science and technology and how it will impact on, and interact with, the future of business and society. He is particularly interested in potential future disruptive technologies and has recently written a book - Ubiquitous Positioning - about the future of knowing where everything and everybody is situated.
Other presenters include Jim Haywood, the Environment Director at Business in the Community and the MySpace UK development Evangelist, Chris Thorpe.
