Envitia’s MapRite Capture Tool awarded High Commendation for Innovation and Best Practice

MapRite Capture Tool, awarded high commendation at AGI Annual Awards : Innovation and Best Practice ( Private Sector).

Envitia’s MapRite Capture Tool has gained Highly Commended recognition for the work that London Borough of Lewisham and The Borough of Poole have accomplished using the software.

The Borough of Poole worked with Envitia to help prove and enhance this highly sophisticated tool for automatically capturing BLPUs from their corporate gazetteer.

Jeffrey van Etten comments “This tool has allowed us to capture our BLPUs in a couple of weeks instead of several months of work. It has introduced efficiencies to the GIS team at Poole in the way we now capture and maintain BLPUs. In addition the tool will also help Poole maintain an up to date BLPU layer by using the Change Only Updates (COU) from OS MasterMapTM­ topography layer. One key aspect to the successful development of this tool has been the working relationship between Envitia and Poole.”

London Borough of Lewisham, working in partnership with Envitia, has also used the MapRite Capture Tool to automatically capture over 140,000 BLPU extents in just 7 hours.

Fuad Yusuf – LLPG Custodian said “BLPU extents are vital for Lewisham as they provide the accuracy needed for automated constraint checking particularly for planning. The software through the interrogation of OS MasterMapTM Topography Layer and complex algorithmic processes generates a BLPU extent from a gazetteer seed point.

Not only were Lewisham able to generate extents, but also cleanse and improve the Local Land & Property Gazetteer (LLPG) by identifying several addresses that either had no gazetteer entry or where seed points were incorrectly placed. “

Fuad added, “As a result of this high level anomaly resolution, London Borough of Lewisham has been recently awarded the 'Most Improved' Authority for the NLPG at the Intelligent Addressing Exemplar Awards. In the long term this has saved on a full time resource for the capturing and continued maintenance of BLPU extents. This saving can be used in other priority areas.”

Envitia has successfully completed product enhancements in MapRite Capture Tool 1.1, based upon customer feedback and our own product roadmap.
